But you don’t need to be a celebrity to get started—the simple fact is that top Instagrammers have thousands (if not millions) of loyal followers who trust their opinions. This makes becoming an Instagram influencer easier than ever before: all you need is a bit of hustle, and some clever thinking about how to get more followers.

An affiliate marketer gets a commission for every sale they generate, typically within a specific sales channel like Amazon or Paypal. Affiliate marketing is super popular because it’s so easy—you don’t need to create your own product or service (or, you know, do any work). But just because it’s easy doesn’t mean that people are making boatloads of money with affiliate marketing.
Selling on Amazon
These online income types are changing rapidly as online sales grow. The average American household spends $3,200 per year on Amazon—and that's just for physical goods. Create an informational product
The online income types open up numerous possibilities for freelancers, who can work from anywhere in the world. One such type is creating an informational product—an e-book or video, for example—and selling it as a digital download. Even if you don’t plan to sell your product right away, offering it for free has other benefits, including helping you build a mailing list and potentially attracting paying customers down the road. (You’ll learn more about these benefits in Chapter 2.)
Digital tutoring
Online tutoring is a great option for those who want to work online but aren’t interested in freelance writing or web design. It works best for people with specific areas of expertise, whether that’s cooking, math, or photoshop.
Youtube monetization
These days, you can make a living as a full-time YouTuber, but it does take hard work. First, you need to build up an audience of people who like what you have to say and are interested in your niche. Then comes monetization. If your channel is geared for educational or entertainment purposes (as most are), there’s a good chance you can monetize your videos through YouTube Partner Program ads—but it takes time to get there.
Surveys & Sites like Swagbucks, MySurvey, etc.
Paid surveys and Swagbucks-type sites like MySurvey are great for earning points or cash, respectively. However, there are many other types of ways to work online. These include freelancing, ghostwriting jobs, tutor/teacher/tutoring opportunities (note: I am not a teacher or tutor), selling your stuff online (eBay, Craigslist), participating in research studies online (paid focus groups and such) etc.
Ebay Selling
Ebay is a great way to turn your stuff into money. Selling on Ebay gives you more control over prices, and also allows you to take advantage of unique selling opportunities. It’s easy to get started selling online—just remember, it takes time for your business to grow. Always check eBay before buying something new; chances are someone else is selling it for less than you would pay at a retail store.
Paid promotions on social media sites
Pushing out a link to your content on Facebook or Twitter is one of easiest and most cost-effective ways to promote yourself online. If you have friends and followers who share your interests, consider posting about your latest project for them to share. These platforms are also great places to find people looking for writers like you. Find someone looking for a ghostwriter on Twitter, or reach out to potential collaborators on LinkedIn if you’re interested in an editorial partnership.
