The football world cup (officially known as the FIFA World
Cup) is an international tournament where national teams compete to be the best
in the world and to be the current champion of football. Every four years, 32
countries (with 2 or 3 of them being hosts) take part in this tournament. To
date, there have been 20 FIFA World Cups held since 1930. In these tournaments,
over 110 countries have participated, and only 11 have won the trophy so far,
according to FIFA’s official rankings.
Brazil
The Brazilians have been a dominant force in football for
the past four decades, not only winning the most Copa Americas but also
dominating the world stage. They were ranked

Germany
The German team is one of the most successful football teams
in history. In 1954, they won the first FIFA World Cup that they participated
in. They went on to win three more consecutive championships before losing a

After qualifying for eight straight World Cups from 1982 until 2002, they were

make it past the group stage each time.

and 1938.

finished as runners up at Brazil 2014 and third place at France 1998. With 12
World Cups played since the first world cup in 1930, Italy has participated in
more than any other country except Brazil (13). Along with Sweden, Italy was the
only European team not to participate in South Africa 2010, but managed to
reach Brazil 2014 by virtue of their fourth place finish at Euro 2012. The

France
Ranked as the number one team in the world, France is a
powerhouse of football. The team has won three World Cups and two Euros and
continues to be one of the top teams in the tournament.
